Virtual Physicians Summit
The 3rd Annual Virtual Physicians Summit (VPS) scheduled for October 6th, 2018 in Atlanta, GA, is a telemedicine conference designed to teach physicians the tools needed to practice evidence-based medicine via telemedicine.
In 2016 a survey showed that the addressable market for Telemedicine visits in the U.S. is about one third of all annual ambulatory care visits, with an estimated total of more than 400 million visits. A study in 2017 showed that the wait time for a new appointment for a Family Physician in a large Metropolitan area was 59 days and the average time spent on a physician visit was 121 minutes, including drive time, wait in the office and time of the actual visit. The rising costs of medical care, long wait times and the desire for convenience have led patients to seek medical care via telemedicine.
Patient satisfaction for telemedicine visits is high. Several studies have shown that telemedicine provides equivalent care to in office visits for certain conditions. Millennials, who are now the largest segment of our workforce, are part of the driving force. A recent survey showed that 60% of millennials support the use of telemedicine as a replacement to in-office visits. Physicians who practice telemedicine see this wave and want to be positioned to be accessible to patients.
VPS programming topics include:
- Pediatric care via telemedicine
- Virtual Management of Common Orthopedic Conditions
- Physician-Pharmacist Collaborations
- Telepsychiatry for Mental Health Illness and Physician Burnout
- Cross Border Medicine, International telemedicine
- Employee/Payor Groups and reimbursement for telemedicine
