Welcome to the ONSMS 134th Annual Scientific Meeting! Join us for a virtual gathering of physicians and other medical professionals from NC and surrounding areas. This year we are hosting our annual scientific meeting with a focus on the integration of technology into clinical practice with a focus on artificial intelligence impact on the health issues of the minority populations of North Carolina. Key Objectives
1. Participants will analyze healthcare disparities affecting our black communities and examine the causes of these disparities, including implicit bias of providers, historical trauma of African Americans, and lack of diversity within the healthcare workforce.
2. Participants will recognize and compare the history of the African American race to modern day outcomes and associate the epidemiology of Black American health
3. Participants will apply learned evidence-based strategies with African American healthcare leaders across the nation in order to continue improving the health of African Americans
4. Participants will explain how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is integrated into the healthcare field.
5. Participants will be able to identify the consequences of AI in healthcare on minority populations.

Dr. Erkeda DeRouen stands as a changemaker in healthcare innovation, as a triple-board certified physician executive leader within the evolving realm of digital health. As a digital health risk management consultant at Digital Risk Compliance Solutions, she’s working to help organizations navigate the landscape intelligently. She also serves as the Chief Medical Officer of the women’s health startup, Emme. With notable collaborations that include unicorn founders and a hand in technologies now surpassing $1 billion in value, Dr. DeRouen’s impact extends beyond business: she’s the voice behind the influential podcast The Prospective Doctor.
